From le Bodri to Ile Rousse - Corsica

If you drive from Ile Rousse towards Calvi, after 1km on your right you will come to the beautifully located campground Le Bodri. There is a very nice, sandy beach only a few minutes walking distance from the campground. A small track starts here which will take you to Ile Rousse in about 45 minutes.

At first, the the track passes widespread carpets of stone plants which flower at the end of May, beginning of June before it crosses red rocks. Next, you are walking through low, fragrant macchia with cistus and gorse. Unfortunately, the last section of the walk is along the tracks of the regional train. Be careful, because there is a 300m long section where it is impossible to get out of the way, should a train come, due to steep rocks on both sides of the tracks. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the train timetable.

After visiting the small town of Ile Rousse, there is the option of walking to the offshore island Ile de la Pietra with Genoese tower and lighthouse (see photo).
