Capu Rosso

Capu Rosso – Hiking in Corsica

The hike to the Genoese tower Tour de Turghiu on top of the 300m high cliff Capu Rosso is one of the best hikes at Corsica's west coast. Starting point for this track is a car park with a small café on the D824 going from Piana to Plage d'Arone. The car park is located on your right in a left bend after about 6km. The ascent along the track to Capu Rosso is about 500m but it is not very steep apart from the last part where the trail climbs up to the tower. The return walk will take approximately 3.5 hours. Because the whole track is in full sun, it is recommended to walk either in the early morning or late afternoon and don't forget a sun hat and plenty of water. The track is in good condition and well-marked and the storming of the tower is great fun for kids, too.

Along the track there are beautiful views over the steep cliffs and the surrounding bays. From the top of the Genoese tower Tour de Turghiu you have an impressive view overlooking the Gulf of Porto and inland areas. If you are scared of heights, find a nice picnic spot at the foot of the tower and keep away from the steep cliff.
